Warm obsidian and torchlit gold

Seven colours. Two foundation tones for depth, gold in two weights for light, and three warm neutrals for everything between. The gold is alive, not decorative — it carries meaning wherever it appears.

Yeseva One carries the wordmark — a bold display serif with the confidence to stand alone. DM Serif Display handles editorial headings and narrative moments. Neue Haas Grotesk runs the body and UI. IBM Plex Mono serves all precision labels and system copy.

Used exclusively for the wordmark and its lockup variants. The letterforms need space — never compress the tracking or retype the wordmark freehand. The gold i is part of the locked asset.

Section headings, hero sub-headings, and any display moment that isn't the wordmark. Italic weight for taglines and pull quotes.

Neue Haas Grotesk — Body & UI

Built on the architecture of an empire that lasted, deployed with the tools of one that is being built.

Ulpia is in formation. Access is intentional, opened deliberately, for operators who already know what kind of surface they need.

All body copy, UI labels, navigation, and interface elements. Regular weight for body (16px), lighter for supporting copy.

Usage guidelines

How to use the identity

The Ulpia identity is deliberately constrained. Precision is the point. Any deviation from these principles softens what the brand is trying to say.

Do

Use Foundation #0F0E0A or Surface #15110D as backgrounds in all primary Ulpia contexts. The brand lives in warm darkness.

Do not

Place the Ulpia wordmark on coloured, gradient, photographic, or pattern backgrounds. The mark needs the warmth of its own palette.

Do

Let the single gold letter do its work. The accent on the "i" is the entire mark system — never add more gold letters or additional accents.

Do not

Change which letter carries the gold accent. It is always the "i." It does not move, rotate, or animate independently.

Do

Use Yeseva One for the wordmark only. DM Serif Display for editorial headings. Neue Haas Grotesk for body. IBM Plex Mono for all labels.

Do not

Introduce additional typefaces. The four-font system is complete. No bold condensed cuts, no system fonts in brand-facing contexts.

Do

Maintain the imperial register in all copy — restrained, precise, operator-level. Let every sentence feel considered.

Do not

Use exclamation marks, superlatives, hype language, or casual register in any Ulpia communication. That is not this brand.

Do

Scale the wordmark proportionally. Minimum display size: 20px digital, 6mm print. The letterforms need room.

Do not

Stretch, skew, outline, shadow, or recolour the wordmark. The gold "i" is always #C8973E on dark, #9B6E24 on light.
